Unicharm Corporation · Fiscal year ended December 2025
Is Unicharm mainly a baby-care company?
Ask what Unicharm makes and disposable baby diapers may be the first answer. But the current numbers are much broader. FY2025 sales were ¥945.3 billion, 64.2% of them overseas. Pet care alone generated ¥156.1 billion. Unicharm itself describes four core fields—baby and child care, feminine care, wellness care and pet care—connected by technologies in nonwoven fabrics and absorbent materials.
This is not investment advice or a stock recommendation. We reorder company-published primary-source facts to make the shape of the business easier to see.
Disposable baby diapers are one of the most familiar faces of Unicharm.
They are still an important part of the business.
But the current company stretches across ages, species and borders.
Sales are ¥945.3 billion
The first surprise is geographic.
64.2% of sales come from overseas
Asia alone is a major part of the company.
Asia represents 41.2% of sales
Three numbers that show Unicharm's current shape
FY2025 actuals. Overseas ratio and pet + wellness mix are company-reported.
What about the product portfolio?
Personal care generates ¥774.4bn
So this is not a story about diapers disappearing.
But there is already another substantial pillar next to human care.
Pet care generates ¥156.1bn
Human care remains the center, but pet care is already large
FY2025 business-segment sales on the same disclosed basis.
Pet care matters even more when it is viewed together with wellness care.
Pet + wellness care represent 38% of sales
Wellness care includes products that support people at later stages of life.
The portfolio therefore stretches beyond one age group.
Four fields cover life stages and pets
The common link is not a brand name.
It is a technology base.
The shared platform is nonwoven fabrics and absorbent materials
The company did not even begin with diapers.
From building materials to roughly 80 countries and regions
Baby diapers remain part of the story.
They are simply not the whole story.
THE VIEW AFTER THE NUMBERS
What the numbers suggest
This is not a story about Unicharm leaving diapers behind.
Personal care still generated ¥774.4 billion in FY2025. At the same time, pet care reached ¥156.1 billion, pet plus wellness care represented 38% of sales, and 64.2% of total sales came from overseas.
The common thread is the processing and forming technology around nonwoven fabrics and absorbent materials.
Baby diapers, feminine-care products, adult continence care and pet toiletries serve very different users. But they are connected by the same underlying problems: absorption, cleanliness, comfort and reducing daily burdens.
Seen through that shared technology rather than one product, Unicharm becomes a company whose use cases stretch across the human life cycle, pets and roughly 80 countries and regions.
