SG Holdings Co., Ltd. · Year ended March 2026

Between parcels and full truckloads: SG Holdings’ cold chain.

Unable to arrange trucks at a busy time, a frozen-food maker cannot ship products it could otherwise sell. SG Holdings, the logistics group behind Sagawa Express, provides shippers with parcel delivery, freight transport and warehousing. Its 2025 integrated report describes the problem and a proposed response. Those transport and storage arrangements help explain the cold-chain results reported for the year ended March 2026.

This is a proposal for a particular e-commerce customer. It is separate from the earlier frozen-food manufacturer’s nearby-warehouse proposal and the seasonal osechi example, rather than a universal cold-chain route. No shipment volumes, temperatures, transit times or realized profits are shown.

Storage has a seasonal calendar

Choosing a vehicle for the size of the load is only part of the arrangement. Storage location and shipping dates also need to work together. Cold-chain logistics connects the warehouse calendar with the transport schedule.

ARRANGING THE COLD CHAIN

Matching the load, place and time

Three kinds of coordination illustrated by the 2025 report’s customer cases and seasonal example.

The shipper’s requirementsSG group proposals for volume, destination and timing
  1. Fit the shipment sizeCombine Meito and Hutech’s cold-chain operations with delivery by Sagawa and other group businesses
  2. Arrange locations and routesSG proposes nearby warehouses, joint delivery and charters to the shipper
  3. Match seasonal needsSagawa’s task: match customers’ timing and space needs with available group resources

Keeping the parcel network moving too

THE VIEW AFTER THE NUMBERS

What the numbers suggest

SG’s cold-chain work matches shipment sizes with transport options, and storage and vehicles with the right place and time. The frozen-food maker’s dispatch problem and the seasonal demands of osechi illustrate different parts of that coordination.

The initiatives for the year ended March 2026 produced a ¥2.50bn operating-profit improvement over the year ended March 2024, led by existing-customer expansion. Adding ways to move a shipment, earning a return and keeping it moving when needed are three operating tasks that extend beyond the familiar parcel delivery.
