Seiren designs lightness and feel into car-seat materials

Seiren is a textile manufacturer that designs and makes car-seat coverings, airbags and clothing fabrics, among other products. For automakers, it supplies synthetic leather and fabrics for seats as well as decorative interior parts.

A soft covering on a car seat connects with differently textured fabrics and spools of yarn.

When someone sits in a car, the seat covering is the surface they touch. With its QUOLE synthetic leather, Seiren designs the material’s weight as well as its appearance and feel.

THE VIEW AFTER THE NUMBERS

What the numbers suggest

Seiren supplies automakers with covering materials and the ability to tailor their feel and functions. The weight comparison with genuine leather and the manufacturing-solvent figures show work on both the material and the process that produces it.

Automotive-materials sales reached ¥115.258bn in the year ended March 2026. Proposing materials, winning orders for vehicle models, and managing production, quality and costs are the activities behind the surface a passenger touches.
