Daiichikosho rethinks what each DAM unit earns
Daiichikosho supplies DAM karaoke equipment and audio/video content to karaoke venues, bars and other business customers. It also operates its own Big Echo karaoke rooms and restaurants.

Monthly receipts from equipment already in use
Supply equipment and content, or operate the room
Two roles within the Daiichikosho group. Arrows connect what it provides with the resulting receipts.
Equipment-sale revenue is generally recognized at delivery. Rental and audio/video provision revenue is recognized monthly; own-room revenue when services are provided. The diagram does not imply that all devices are rented or that prices are uniform.

At its own venues, including Big Echo, the group provides rooms and dining directly to guests. This is a separate business, recognizing revenue when the service is completed (annual securities report, physical PDF pages 6 and 71).
Two karaoke businesses, different revenue and profit
Equipment and content supply generated more operating profit
Actual segment operating profit for the year ended March 2026. Bars use ¥million, labels ¥billion, on a common zero-based scale. Before corporate-cost adjustments; forecasts are excluded.

A new model helped equipment sales and the group’s own rooms
What replaces the new-model sales boost?
The policy behind higher revenue per DAM
A summary of management’s objectives in the May 2026 presentation.
- Functions and contentAdd value to increase income per device
- Sales and costsImprove sales efficiency and optimize content
- Elder marketContinue expanding active devices in facilities for older people
In the elder market, including care facilities, management still aims to expand active-device numbers. It plans to promote FREE DAM LIFE’s functions, aiming to support healthier aging and reduce staff workloads. The indicators it pursues therefore differ between established markets and the older-user market where it expects growth (results presentation, physical PDF pages 19 and 27).
THE VIEW AFTER THE NUMBERS
What the numbers suggest
Daiichikosho is reconsidering what each karaoke device earns, beyond the number sold and operating. Equipment rental and audio/video provision bring monthly income; its own venues earn from guests using rooms and dining.
The new model supported both sales and venues in the year ended March 2026. The following year’s forecast expects more continuing income to offset the fading sales boost. Read the effort to earn more per unit alongside the equipment and content investment behind it. Together, they explain the DAM business beyond device counts.
