What emerges
See the company through the numbers →JR East has not moved away from rail. Transportation remained the largest business in FY2026 at roughly 66% of revenue. But Retail & Services, Real Estate & Hotels and Others together generated about ¥1.039 trillion of revenue and ¥226.4 billion of segment profit, more than Transportation's ¥194.4 billion. The group is pursuing dual-axis management across Mobility and Lifestyle Solutions, expanding real-estate rotation and turning Suica and stations into a digital and physical platform. JR East begins to look less like a company that only runs trains and more like one building a daily-life infrastructure around people in motion.
