The point is not that Nitori is secretly a logistics or IT company rather than a retailer. The NITORI business still generated ¥816.1 billion in sales in FY2026. What changes the picture is how far the retailer extends beyond the store: sourcing raw materials, managing production, handling trade, operating logistics and developing systems. Nitori calls this manufacturing-logistics-IT-retailing. Rather than seeing 1,069 stores as the whole story, the company makes more sense as a retailer that tries to control and improve more of the chain that gets a product from an idea to the customer.
