Water pipes came before farm machinery: Kubota's two pillars after 135 years.
Kubota generated ¥3.0189tn of revenue and ¥265.5bn of operating profit in FY2025. Farm & Industrial Machinery generated ¥2.6286tn, or 87.1% of consolidated revenue; the presentation breaks that into ¥2.0033tn of Farm Equipment & Engines and ¥625.3bn of Construction Machinery. Water & Environment generated ¥374.4bn, or 12.4%. Kubota began as a foundry in 1890 and started producing cast-iron water pipes in 1893. Agro-industrial engines followed in 1922, cultivators in 1947 and riding tractors in 1960. Overseas revenue now reaches ¥2.3337tn, or 77.3% of consolidated revenue. Kubota is not secretly a water company—the current economic center is clearly machinery. The more useful reading is that food-related machinery and water infrastructure became two long-running pillars, even though they are now very different in size.
