Printing is 54% of Canon's sales.
Canon generated ¥4.625tn of net sales in 2025. Printing contributed ¥2.494tn, or 54%, Imaging ¥1.055tn, or 23%, Medical ¥580.6bn, or 13%, and Industrial ¥361.1bn, or 8%. Cameras remain a major business, but Printing is more than twice as large by sales. Founded as a camera maker in 1937, Canon expanded from the 1960s into office equipment, optical devices and medical equipment, and now operates four industry-oriented groups. The more important connection is technological: materials know-how from printer photoreceptors is being applied to perovskite solar-cell materials, while optical and image-processing technologies are being applied to automated iPS-cell production.
