Japan is 30% of Shiseido sales. The rest of the business is already global.
Shiseido generated ¥970.0 billion of net sales and ¥44.5 billion of core operating profit in FY2025. The Japan Business generated ¥295.3 billion, about 30.4% of group sales. All reportable segments outside Japan therefore represented about 69.6% by site calculation. China & Travel Retail alone generated ¥342.2 billion, or about 35.3%, exceeding Japan. Shiseido operates in approximately 120 countries and regions, employs roughly 32,000 people and maintains five R&D sites. The company began in 1872 as a Western-style pharmacy in Ginza and entered cosmetics in 1897. Its 2030 strategy now identifies Medical & Derma and Lifestyle as new markets. Shiseido has not stopped being a Japanese beauty company; it has extended that Japanese origin into a globally distributed business and is widening the boundaries of beauty itself.
