From ledger covers to office space: 120 years of KOKUYO.
KOKUYO generated ¥359.9bn of consolidated sales and ¥26.2bn of operating income in 2025. Segment sales were ¥172.2bn in Furniture, ¥108.4bn in Business Supply Distribution, ¥83.6bn in Stationery and ¥23.7bn in Interior Retail. Furniture was about 2.06 times Stationery by segment sales and about 3.69 times by segment operating income. That does not mean stationery became irrelevant. The more useful story begins in 1905, when KOKUYO made ledger covers worth only about 5% of the full ledger price. It expanded into complete ledgers and paper products, then entered furniture in 1960 with a filing cabinet for the documents its customers were already creating. In 1969, its headquarters became a live model office. Today KOKUYO defines itself as a Work & Lifestyle Company. The company has repeatedly expanded one step outward from what people need where they work and learn.
