FY2025 Hemlibra exports to Roche were ¥339.3bn; Roche royalty and profit-sharing income across products was ¥163.3bn. The reciprocal arrangement gives Chugai first refusal on developing and marketing Roche compounds in Japan. Chugai also bears research expenses and costs when projects are discontinued. Its model combines its own search for medicines with access to another company's commercial scale.
