At AGC, Chemicals is the largest business by sales.
AGC generated ¥2,058.8 billion of sales in 2025. On sales to external customers, Chemicals was the largest individual segment at ¥579.5 billion, ahead of Automotive at ¥520.3 billion and Architectural Glass at ¥438.8 billion. Yet Architectural Glass plus Automotive still totaled ¥959.1 billion, about 46.6% of consolidated sales. AGC is not a glass company that simply became a chemicals company. The Chemicals business itself traces back to in-house soda-ash production for flat glass in 1917. That chemical base expanded through caustic soda and fluorinated materials, and organic-synthesis technology cultivated in the fluorine business now supports pharmaceutical CDMO.
